Polystyrene Pack handling system (click here to view)

A Lydney (Gloucestershire) based manufacturer of Insulation Material for the building industry produces packs of Polystyrene panels measuring 2.4 metres x 1.2 metres x 0.6 metres high. After shrink wrapping, the packs are discharged on a conveyor where an employee manually handles the packs onto pallets, and stacks them 4 high. A forklift truck then takes the palletised stack for storage and later distribution.

Back injuries and strains are a regular problem, quite apart from the obvious Health and Safety risks incurred.
